Community Education and Outreach ProgramsClassroom presentations K-12: available by calling 923-0882 ext. 102 and scheduling a visit by our humane education coordinator. Topics include basic and responsible animal care and treatment, dog bite prevention, stopping pet overpopulation, projects kids can get involved in with their local shelter and more... Community Outreach: humane society staff and volunteers are available to provide materials to neighborhoods experiencing animal problems, presentations and community programs, assistance with shelter/provisions/pet foods, and working with local law enforcement to stop abuse and violence against animals and people.
P.A.W.S: Pets and Wellness for Seniors program. Volunteers who have completed a background check and orientation, are available to assist area seniors who have animals and are housebound, unable to provide transportation for their pets to grooming or veterinary appointments, or to secure necessary pet supplies. This program recognizes the value of the human and animal bond and the role that bond plays in good mental and physical health. Domestic Violence Program and Foster Care Programs: resources and assistance are available for pets that need temporary foster care in domestic violence cases, emergencies, homelessness, or newborn litter care. Obedience Training and Agility Classes: held regularly throughout the year by our certified in-house trainer, Dennis Fahling. Call 923-0882 for info and schedules. Cruelty and Abuse Investigations: 923-0882. Report suspected abuse, cruelty or neglect of animals to our trained animal AWO Investigator & State Humane Agents Josh Capehart (ext. 104).
Disaster Planning and Assistance: A team and plan are in place to assist with all types of disasters and emergencies. Resources area available throughout Central Oregon to house, transport, rescue or provide food for all types of animals. |
