Be a Volunteer for the Humane Society of Redmond
For each displaced animal that comes to the Humane Society of Redmond there is an opportunity for volunteers to provide exercise, socialization, cleaning, grooming, fundraising, and fostering to help make animals healthy and friendly pets for their permanent new homes. There is need at the Thrift Store and at offsite adoption events. There are office tasks, building maintenance, public relations and many more opportunities. Every volunteer is important and essential. Becoming a volunteer takes time and commitment and the rewards are immeasurable.
Consider joining our new Dog Buddy Volunteer program - so that Every Dog, Every Day gets a walk or play time with a human. It's good for the dogs, and good for you. It's a fun way to exercise!
Persons age 16 and older may volunteer. Children and teens ages 12—15 may volunteer accompanied by an adult.
Where & How to Apply
There are applications available to fill out and submit at the shelter Monday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm. Applications may be submitted by mail addressed to the Humane Society of Redmond, PO Box 1404 Redmond, OR 97756. Applications are also available to print out here on our website.
Volunteer Orientation
Orientation sessions are scheduled each month. When your application is received the Volunteer Coordinator will contact you with the time and date of the next session. At the orientation you will take a tour of the facility, meet staff and other volunteers, and sign up for training.
TRAINING
Each opportunity to volunteer requires some training. A member of the staff or a volunteer mentor will give you instructions and tips on how to do the jobs you have chosen. It’s important that you do the things you like to do and with which you are comfortable.
THE NEXT BIG STEP
Report for duty. Remember, your commitment to be on time and to do your best at your assigned tasks help give each animal the best chance for a permanent new home.
