From helping visitors at the front desk reception to fostering kittens, organizing fundraisers, advising committees, picking weeds on the shelter grounds or serving as an HSR ambassador at shelter adoption events….  Mary’s done it all and is a integral part of HSR shelter operations.  And with always a smile and genuine desire to help and be of service.

What Mary most enjoys about volunteering with HSR, is the common bond – the love of animals – that she shares with other volunteers and shelter staff - Mary says “it feels like a family”.

For folks considering to volunteer with HSR, Mary says “Give it a shot, go for it!  Yes, shelter volunteering can be difficult at times but the rewards are worth so much more”.

When not volunteering, Mary spends a lot of time with her own family – all dedicated HSR supporters – playing golf, traveling, and being of service in her community.  We’re so fortunate to have Mary as part of the heart of the HSR organization.
